Our team are Trauma First Aid Trained.

3 years ago, Elivate Ltd invested in 5No Deliberator kits for our company vehicles and as part of that investment, we trained our team on how to use a defibrillator and emergency first aid.

The construction industry recorded 45 fatal injuries in 2022/23, which is up 29 from the previous year, the average number of fatalities on building sites currently sits at 37 per year. Sadly construction is at the top of the leaderboard for deaths at work, followed by agriculture. Both sectors have issues with lone workers, especially agriculture. The most common cause of fatalities last year was falls from height. There were 40 of the 135 total deaths at work that were recorded through falls.

The UK still remains one of the safest countries to work in the world, alongside Iceland, New Zealand and Ireland, but that shouldn’t mean we are complacent.

Our team will spend the full day on Friday with Advanced Tactical Resources Limited, which are a local (Reading-based) training provider. You will find images of our team on their website from our training there 3 years ago. They are highly qualified expert trainers, who deliver the training specifically around the types of injuries that could be sustained in our business. Everyone will have a refresher on using the defibs but we have also requested specific training on falls from height and other accidents that can happen on a construction site.

Every year there are around 60,000 injuries on construction sites and the majority of those are caused by slips, trips and falls.

We work exceptionally hard to make sure our sites are always kept free from debris. The site managers keep their sites tidy as that’s how we like to work. That’s how we always want our clients to see our sites, and because it makes an enormous difference to the overall safety of the spaces we work in. I also firmly believe that a tidy site is a happy site and reflects in the quality of work.

I have always said, I want to be able to turn up to one of our projects and know that it’s an Elivate site without any signage, but from how it looks and how professionally it’s been set up.

If you are looking for a responsible local builder for your next home renovation project, please get in touch any day except this Friday as we will all be out for the day, brushing up on our Trauma/Emergency First Aid.
