On Friday 24th October 2025, we held a charity Golf event at Sonning Golf Club to help raise awareness of a new community interest group called Open Doors Open Minds.
Set up by Scott Allan and Gareth Evans-Perry, this new organisation has been established by these two men to provide “mental health and wellbeing support, aiming to make sure no one is left behind”
We invited members of our own team, other local tradespeople and suppliers we work with, as well as some members of the BNI Inspire Chapter, to what was to be a fantastic day of golf in Sonning.

The weather was spectacular and that’s always good for the soul, sadly, I didn’t get to play as I was organising the event, but everyone had a great day, and the money we raised will be passed onto the guys at Open Doors Open Minds.
I need to say a big thank you to Samantha Nice at Travis Perkins for donating the power tool prizes for the raffle, to the excellent staff at Sonning GC, and to everyone who supported the event. There were 44 players in the end and we celebrated the winners of nearest the pin, longest drive, team winners and overall single winner.

There is a mental health crisis in construction, with 60% of workers experiencing depression (Source CIOB Understanding Mental Health in the Build Environment Report 2025) and a day out playing golf is always good for my team and our well-being and combining some fundraising and keeping ourselves well felt like a very good thing to do.
