We recently caught up with Nick and Lizzy, a family who chose to put down roots in Maidenhead after moving out of central London. This month, we completed their second project with us, and it was wonderful to walk through their 1890s detached home and see them truly living in the space we helped create.

Project 1: Major Structural Transformation (Ground Floor & Second Floor)
The first renovation was a large and complex undertaking. The original detached house, dating back to the 1890s, required significant internal work to combat its age and coldness. The scope covered two entire floors:
- Ground Floor: We completely changed the layout and brought in incredible natural light via a vaulted ceiling, transforming the space into their new open-plan kitchen and family living area. Prior to this, the room where the new kitchen is located wasn’t accessible during the colder months due to the poor insulation and leaks in the windows and doors. The original kitchen is now a family snug, which includes a log burner from the original home.
- Second Floor: This required major structural finesse, including the renovation of all three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Crucially, we raised a lower mezzanine level to meet the rest of the second floor, creating a cohesive, level floorplate and allowing for the creation of a new, connected bathroom.
- We worked alongside the talented team at We are Bastion on this first project, cementing our already strong working relationships with their business.
During the first project, the team also replaced the gutters surrounding the house and painted the exterior in full, including repairing render where required. They also carried out a full electrical rewire and replumb – the latter moved the home to a more modern pressurised platform (with new radiators throughout) which has worked wonders for the temperature challenge Nick and Lizzy had initially.
Project 2: The Final Completion of the Property Renovation on the Third Floor
Having successfully transformed the heart of the home, the follow-up project—which we went to discuss last week (December 2025)—focused on the renovation of the rooms and the shower room up on the third floor. It was great to see the decorator, Harry, finishing the painting there during our visit.

The Commitment to a Polished Finish
The complexity of Project One, cemented the relationship, leading them to entrust us with their final project. Nick and Lizzy specifically complimented the work of Alex, the Site Manager, highlighting his availability, commitment to getting the project completed on time, and his dedication to ensuring a polished, impeccable finish in every room.
The house now flawlessly blends modern interiors with original features—a testament to Lizzy’s vision and our team’s execution. As their friends put it after the first project: “WOW this is next level.”
